Severe Weather

  • Tomorrow

There is a slight risk of severe weather overnight tonight into Friday morning. Timing for EBRP is from 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM Friday morning. During this timeframe less than ½” of rainfall is forecasted for our area. No flash flooding concerns with the Friday system.

Windy conditions expected Friday.

Max wind gusts 40-45 mph expected across the area. A Wind Advisory is in effect Friday from 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM.  

 Cold Weather

 Weekend (Saturday-Sunday)

  • The weekend will be dry but rather chilly. Temperatures will dip to freezing Saturday morning.
  • Saturday morning lows will be in the 30s. Saturday wind chills N of I-10/12: 25-30 degrees and S of I-10/12: 35-40 degrees. Highs will be in the 50s on Saturday.
  • Sunday morning lows will also be in the 30s. Sunday wind chills N of I-10/12: 20-30 degrees and S of I-10/12: 32-38 degrees. Highs will be in the 60s on Sunday.

 Monday (01/15)

  • Frigid temperatures will approach our area on Monday.
  • Monday morning lows in the upper 30s with wind chills N of I-10/12: 15-25 degrees and S of I-10/12: 30-35 degrees.
  • Scattered rain showers are forecasted for our area during the day Monday (40% chance). Highs during the day are forecasted to be near 50 degrees. North wind 10 to 15 mph.
  • There is a 20-30% chance of light freezing rain/sleet occurring Monday night mainly north of I-12 areas, especially south Mississippi. There is still a lot of uncertainty in this forecast!



 

 Tuesday (01/16) – Hard Freeze

  • Tuesday morning lows are forecasted to be in the lower 20s. Wind chills are forecasted N of I-10/12: 5-10 degrees and S of I-10/12: 15-20 degrees.
  • 5-10 hours below freezing forecasted for Tuesday.
  • Generally, 1-5 hours at or below hard freeze for areas along and north of I-12.
  • Mostly sunny, with a high near 36. Breezy, with a north wind 15 to 20 mph.

Wednesday (01/17) – Hard Freeze

  • Coldest morning!
  • Wednesday morning lows in the upper 20s and wind chills N of I-10/12: 5-10 degrees and S of I-10/12: 12-16 degrees.
  • Generally, 10-15 hours at or below freezing for areas along and N of I-12.
  • 5-10 hours at or below hard freeze for areas along and N of I-12.
  • Sunny, with a high near 44. North wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south in the afternoon.

 Thursday (01/18)

  • Thursday morning lows in the 30s with wind chills N of I-10/12: 20-25 degrees and S of I-10/12: 25-30 degrees.
  • 5-10 hours at or below freezing for areas N of I-12, mainly south Mississippi.
  • Highs on Thursday are forecasted to be in the 60s.
