Welcome to the City of Central, La., which was incorporated on April 23, 2005.
Central is located in East Baton Rouge Parish, east of the cities of Baker and Zachary.
The city is bordered by the Comite River to the west, the Amite River to the east, and Highway 64 to the north.
Central's boundaries encompass approximately 66 square miles.
The city's estimated population is near 27,000 citizens with approximately 18,000 registered voters.

Burn Ban Now in Effect
Burn Ban in Effect Because of the extremely dry conditions, Fire Chief Bill Porche has issued a Burn Ban for the Central Fire District. It is already against parish ordinance to burn unless certain conditions are met. For complete details, visit Central Fire Dept.'s Web site.

June 26: EBR Sheriff asks for your donations in Central Woods
EBRS Badge On July 19, the Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Central Woods subdivision in a neighborhood meet and greet in the newly restored Kolby BREC park. It is the sheriff's desire to host a barbeque and they need the support of local businesses to help provide the resources necessary to make this event a success.

May 20: Central Thruway Phase 1
Groundbreaking for the Phase 1 bridges over Sullivan Drainage Channel and CN & IC railroad was held today. Work is scheduled to be completed in late 2011.

Central and City-Parish officials have met with the Baton Rouge Loop project team and support the Loop if the route for the Northern Bypass is acceptable to the Central community.
