Please avoid Hooper Road between Joor Road and Sullivan Road due to major wreck. The roadway will be shut down for several hours due to traffic investigation being conducted by Central Police Department, East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Fatality team and Crime Scene Division.


Mayor Evans and Chief Corcoran participated in the Cub Scout Pack 125 Pinewood Derby this morning. They love taking part in activities that support the community and our future leaders.




The 30th season of The Wall That Heals will begin on March 6, 2025, in Sebring, Florida and visit 31 communities during the year. Baton Rouge, Louisiana is their 3rd stop on the nationwide tour! VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THE WALL THAT HEALS
The Wall That Heals will be visiting Life Tabernacle Church in Central, Louisiana, from Thursday, March 20 to Sunday, March 23, 2025.
This traveling exhibition is a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., and honors the service and sacrifice of our veterans.

Please add your name to the signup page and specify in what capacity you would like to donate your time. Also specify what time and day you are available. There are 4 hour shifts available in each area. You may sign up for two consecutive 4 hour shifts if you would like to do so. You will be contacted.
VOLUNTEER TRAINING: - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - will be on Wednesday, March 19th at 6 p.m.
VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTIONS:
Assist Visitors at The Wall: Greet and assist visitors with finding names, viewing photos, name rubbings. Listen and provide support when needed.
•Mobile Education Center Volunteer: Talk about artifacts, In Memory Honorees and Hometown Heroes.
•Visitor Tent: Seated Position: in finding names on website or name directory. Monitor trifold inventory. Answer Visitor questions to best of ability.
•Direct Visitors (Floater): Greet and assist visitors with information. Direct to The Wall, Trailer, Visitor Tent. Assist if they need help with mobility. Fill in other positions as needed.

Please be advised, Central Thruway between Frenchtown Road and Choctaw is closed until further notice! Barricades will be in place blocking the roadway. If motorists violate this closure by moving or going around the Barricades entering this section of roadway, you will be Ticketed or Summoned. This section of roadway has become to dangerous for motorists to navigate. There will be zero warnings if you violate this order!
