"While we are flushing you may possibly experience lower pressure than normal and could have a tint in the water. If you use any water in your home during the posted flush times you may draw this water into your plumbing system. Toilets and hot water heaters have tanks that can keep this water around long after we are done. If you continue to have discoloration or cloudy water after the posted flush has ended, please let the cold water tap in your kitchen run for approximately 3-5 minutes. If the cold water in the kitchen is clear and the hot water and toilets still have a tint, they may require a brief flush. If any of these issues continue after the posted flush times, please call us at 225-925-2011."

CENTRAL, LA. – The City of Central has begun an update to its Comprehensive Master Plan, Central 2045: A Plan for the Future. On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, the City will host the first area planning meeting at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library Conference Room, located at 11260 Joor Road, Central, LA 70818, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. The City of Central is in the next phase of developing the Comprehensive Plan. The planning area will focus on the properties north of Hooper Road. “We want to build upon the foundations established by the 2010 Land Use Plan efforts of decades past. CENTRAL 2045 is the general plan for land use and policies intended to guide and address the city's current and future needs,” said Mayor Wade Evans. The CENTRAL 2045 plan encapsulates a vision for the future of our community. As technology advances, populations shift, and resiliency becomes more frequent, the CENTRAL 2045 plan must be examined and revised to maintain relevancy. This update cycle is the opportunity to consider our current situation and contribute your voice to the conversation. “As we continue to build the Plan, citizen participation is vital,” said Evans. The multi-chapter CENTRAL 2045 includes several elements addressing land use, housing, infrastructure, economic development, healthy communities, etc.

Please be advised that our preventative roadside maintenance crew will be wrapping up work on Old Settlement and North Old Settlement. The crew will mobilize to Rambling Oaks Subdivision next week, due to the amount of open roadside drainage in this subdivision. Our supervisor has placed door hangers in the subdivision to advise citizens of the impending work.

We’re excited to share that the City of Central’s Department of Public Works employees recently participated in Stop the Bleed training hosted by Central Fire Department and facilitated by the Louisiana Firefighter’s Foundation. These employees received both training and equipment to render aid should they find themselves faced with an emergency while out in the field. Stop the Bleed is a community-based program that equips individuals with the skills to manage life-threatening emergencies before first responders arrive. This training is vital in ensuring readiness to handle critical situations that affect the safety of our loved ones, neighbors, and community. Thanks to Michael Armanini and Aaron Kowal for this invaluable training! #acommunitythatcares
