  • NWS is forecasting rain for our area this weekend into early next week.
    • Currently there is a slight risk of heavy rainfall. 2-5” of rainfall with locally higher amounts possible are forecasted for our area Sunday through Tuesday.  
    • High rainfall rates could result in ponding of water in low lying areas and localized flash flooding.

Here is an update concerning the heavy rain threat Sunday night through midday Tuesday

 

Overview:

WHAT:SLIGHT RISK of Heavy Rain that could lead to flash flooding

 

WHEN: Sunday night through midday Tuesday

 

WHERE: All of southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi 

 

CONFIDENCE: We are confident in the occurrence of widespread showers and a few embedded thunderstorms. We have less confidence in the exact amounts and locations of the heaviest rain.

 

Impacts:

  • Rainfall of 2 to 5 inches is currently forecast for much of the area, with some potential for isolated rainfall totals exceeding 6 inches. 
  • High rainfall rates could result in ponding of water in low lying areas and localized flash flooding.
