Because the City of Central enforces floodplain development regulations, it is a National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) participating community. This allows property owners to purchase flood insurance through the NFIP.
The City of Central also participates in the NFIP’s Community Rating System (CRS), which rewards communities who voluntarily do more than the minimum floodplain management requirements. The CRS program rewards communities by providing flood insurance premium
reductions for policies in the community. The City of Central is currently a CRS Class 7, which earns a 15% discount on all flood insurance premiums.
This postcard is one way that the City of Central does more than the minimum required for floodplain management and seeks to make the community a safer place.
