Please see the below weather update from the National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans / Baton Rouge.

 

  • Multiple rounds of thunderstorms will bring threats of heavy rainfall and severe weather to our area through Tuesday morning.
    • Round 1: Early this morning(ongoing).
    • Round 2: This evening through tomorrow morning.
    • Timing of greatest threat is between 5:00 PM today – 5:00 AM tomorrow.
    • Scattered showers and storms will also be possible between the two rounds.
  • All modes of severe weather are possible today – heavy rainfall, possible flash flooding, strong winds, hail, and to the lesser extent tornadoes. 
  • Our area is under a moderate risk of excessive rainfall and now an enhanced risk of severe weather as well.
  • East Baton Rouge Parish is under a Flood Watch until 10AM tomorrow morning.
    • 2 - 4” of rainfall with locally higher amounts possible for our area today.
    • Heaviest rainfall is forecasted for this afternoon through tomorrow morning.

- Upgraded to Enhanced Risk for Severe Weather today for portions of the area

 

Overview:

 

WHAT:  SLIGHT RISK to ENHANCED RISKof severe storms 

             SLIGHT RISK to MODERATE RISK of flash flooding

 

WHEN:  Throughout the day today with storms already beginning to develop and most across parts of the area.  The highest threat is expected this afternoon through tomorrow morning.

 

WHERE: All of SE LA and S MS

 

CONFIDENCE:  While we are confident that there will be widespread thunderstorms that will be capable of all modes of severe weather, we are much less confident in the timing, location and duration of the storms.
