CENTRAL, La. (BRPROUD) — The City of Central has several events planned this spring, including a big cooking competition festival.
The Cooking in Central festival is set for March 22-23 at 10305 Blackwater Road in Central. The festival opens at 5 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday. Each day will have food, music and activities for kids.
“It’s kind of evolved into a community festival that the city has taken on,” Central Mayor Wade Evans said.
He said the event aims to bring people in Central and raise money for those in need. People are invited to attend Saturday for the barbecue cook-off. Dinners will be served at 5 p.m., according to the festival schedule.
On April 6, the Baton Rouge Symphony will present the music of John Williams. Listen to favorites from “HOOK,” the Harry Potter movie series and “Star Wars.” This event will take place at Grand Settlement at Shoe Creek from 6-8 p.m.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 20, which kicks off “Love the Boot Week.” Everyone is invited to join the Central team to help with litter pickup and recycling around the city. Teams will meet at City Hall, located at 13421 Hooper Suite 8, at 8 a.m.
